The Union Public Service Commission is the government agency to conduct services under the union of India and the states. The Constitution of India has granted authority to this agency to frame policies and regulate recruitments and examinations for services in the ministries and departments of country. Currently, a number of prestigious jobs and services are conducted under this commission. These are as: Civil Services Examination (IAS), Engineering Services Examination (IES), Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS), National Defense Services Examination, National Defense Academy Examination (NDA), Naval Academy Examination, Combined Medical Services Examination, Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA), Indian Economic Service, Indian Statistical Service Examination, Geologist Service Examination and Central Armed Police Forces Examination (CAPF). Thousands of vacancies are filled up through these examinations every year.

These exams are tough to pass through, not only because of their curriculum and standard, but also because of the large scale competition. UPSC Exam such as IAS is regarded as the toughest in the country. Millions of students appear in these exams with single digit success rates. This makes UPSC preparation a task of toil and extensive study. Here are some tips to develop a strategy for success in these exams. 

•The equation goes as: Hard Work plus Determination plus Confidence equals Success. This is quiet a rule for exam preparation. While preparing for exams, determination to succeed and self confidence is a prerequisite.

•Go through the Syllabus of the examinations carefully. Know each subject better and closer. It should be such that, you should be able to categorize a question the moment you see it and also get into the related topics to it. 

•Follow the Question pattern. The easiest way to do this is to get hold of the previous year question papers. This help to develop a test strategy for self assessment.

•As soon as you complete a subject, get through the question types asked for it and asses your success without any reference or help. A best way to do this is to appear for a sample online exam. 

•Online studies are of much help in present times. Follow the websites to remain updated about the types of questions. These also save a lot of money spent on buying expensive books. Series of online test are also offered by these websites.
